Ilsu Kim is a Ph.D. student in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, specializing in Transportation Systems Engineering. His research focuses on investigating evolving travel and activity trends (e.g., remote work, time use in self-driving vehicles), developing analytical frameworks to identify heterogeneous preferences in travel behavior, and incorporating attitudinal information into discrete choice models and regional travel demand modeling. He enjoys attending sports games, playing catch, and taking road trips throughout the South. His advice to incoming graduate students is to build a strong network of peers, mentors, and collaborators early—this will benefit you personally and professionally throughout your graduate program(s) and beyond.
