Monserrath Velez, originally from Union, New Jersey, is pursuing a doctorate in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech. After earning her undergraduate degree from Kean University, she developed a passion for applying mathematics to better understand complex environmental systems. Her current research focuses on glacier dynamics and subglacial hydrology modeling, and she hopes to pursue a career as a research scientist developing models that make scientific concepts more accessible to the public.
