Graduate students receiving funding through a graduate research assistantship (GRA), graduate teaching assistantship (GTA), or graduate assistantship (GA) this fall must complete the employee onboarding process before beginning work.

Students should complete the electronic hire packet as soon as they receive the email link. This step must be finished before proceeding to the required in-person identity verification, in compliance with federal regulations.

The final in-person onboarding step can be completed either at the Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) office at 500 Tech Parkway or during the New Student Employee Onboarding event, held Aug. 13–15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Industrial Engineering Building.

To ensure timely tuition waivers and paychecks, all electronic documents must be completed no later than Aug. 21.

Additional onboarding guidance is available in the Graduate Institute Orientation (GradIO) Canvas site. A dedicated module for graduate student employees provides detailed instructions for accessing the University System of Georgia Employment Center, completing new hire documents, and preparing for the in-person step. It also includes a checklist of what to bring and how to sign up for a half-hour appointment.

Students who already completed onboarding at the GTHR office do not need to attend the Student Employee Onboarding event.

Those unavailable Aug. 13–15 may schedule an onboarding appointment at GTHR. Due to high demand, appointment times may be limited.
