Every spring the Graduate Resource and Information Network (GRIN) helps coordinate Grad Student Appreciation Week. We invite you to partner with us on this initiative to show our graduate students how much they mean to Georgia Tech. There are a number of ways to get involved in this campus-wide initiative, including co-marketing existing or new programs for graduate students throughout the week.
Planning and Hosting Events
Are you already planning an event for graduate students during the first week of April to show appreciation?
If so, co-marketing your program with Grad Student Appreciation Month is easy. If you use Mercury to advertise your events, just add “grad student appreciation week” in the keywords list under the Categories and Keywords section of your entry. Those keywords will add the event to the list on our promotional Grad Student Appreciation Week webpage. You can also add the Grad Student Appreciation Week save the date to your advertisements or flyers (.png logo file). (Please help us avoid cluttering this list by only tagging events that are specifically designed to show appreciation to graduate students.)
Does your office offer services, resources, or programs to graduate students and want to host an event during the first week of April?
If so, below is an example of an event you can host or co-host (this is provided just as an example, this is not an actual event happening that week). It's a relatively easy and cost-effective idea that shows your appreciation and gives students an opportunity to learn more about what your office does:
Title | Office of Graduate Education Virtual Open House |
---|---|
Summary Sentence | Drop-in for a virtual open house with the Office of Graduate Education to learn more about what we do for graduate students. |
Description | The Office of Graduate Education is excited to partner with campus units in celebrating Grad Student Appreciation Week April 5 - 9. Please visit our virtual office on Monday, April 5, from 9-11 a.m. and learn a little bit more about what our office does. Hope to see you then! |
When | Tuesday, April 5, 9-11 a.m. |
Where | Microsoft Teams link: |
Several other events are currently being planned by the Grad Student Appreciation Week steering committee and will appear on the main page as they are added to Mercury.
Are you an office or unit on campus that isn’t able to contribute with programming but would still like to show your appreciation to Georgia Tech’s graduate students?
Please email Casey Hendricks (casey.hendricks@gatech.edu) in the Office of Graduate Education to see how you might be able to partner on existing efforts happening around campus.
For Academic Programs
Are you an academic program looking to show appreciation for your students?
Great! You might consider partnering with the graduate student organization affiliated with your program/school. They may already be planning activities or may have some great ideas for events. Please let us know that you’re planning something for students within your program, so we can keep track of all the awesome things happening around campus. Send details to Casey Hendricks (casey.hendricks@gatech.edu).
Promoting Events on Social Media
How can I promote my events on social media?
Use #gtGRADitude on your social media posts. Be sure to follow and tag @gtgradpostdocs on Instagram and the Office of Graduate Education on Facebook. We're excited to see all the awesome things happening around campus!
