The NSF AI Institute for Collaborative Assistance and Responsive Interaction for Networked Groups (AI-CARING) connects researchers, educators, and industry partners from across the country to develop collaborative AI partners-in-care that help support a growing population of older adults. The Institute will help aging adults to sustain independence and improve quality of life while living in their own homes, or “aging in place.” Aging in place comes with many benefits for seniors, including a healthier environment, lower care costs, and the comfort that comes with living at home. AI-CARING technologies will provide intelligent support through smart interactive devices located in the person’s home. These embedded AI systems will monitor for physical and cognitive changes, promote independence through personalized activity support, and assist in planning and coordination of care among caregivers.
Facilitated by Siva Jayaraman, Managing Director, AI-CARING
