Our orientation resources, events, and programs will prepare you for success as a graduate student.

Spring 2024 Graduate Institute Orientation (GradIO)

In addition to the orientation that your individual program might hold, which you should attend, Graduate Education hosts several orientation sessions, called GradIO, prior to the start of classes to introduce you to campus-wide resources and policies.

Note: GradIO is geared towards on-campus Atlanta students. Online degree programs will be providing a series of communications to guide and support the transition to an online student experience.

New on-campus students have two options to attend GradIO:

Orientation Sessions (GradIO)

Attend a virtual or in-person live orientation session. All sessions are identical and you only need to register for and attend one session. A virtual session will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, UTC - 5 and an in-person session will be held in the Atlantic Theatre in the John Lewis Student Center on Tuesday, January 9 at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, UTC - 5.

A recording of the Thursday, December 14 GradIO will be posted on our website on Friday, December 15.

New Student Programs and Events

Every August we host the GradExpo resource fair to help new graduate students learn about campus services and student organizations.

We also coordinate an extended orientation course each fall called "GT6000". If you're a new graduate student looking to meet other students from across campus, this program is perfect for you. Learn from an older graduate student about what it takes to be successful at Tech and get exposure to campus departments who are here to serve your needs.
