Join us in the Archives Reading Room, located on the first floor of Crosland Tower, on Tuesday, Aug. 8 from noon to 2 p.m. for an open house to view a selection of the newest acquisitions in rare books, science fiction, and university archives from the Library’s Archives and Special Collections department.
Selections include:
Foundational works in the history of astronomy, mathematics, chemistry, and medicine printed before 1800 from authors such as Galileo, René Descartes, Robert Boyle, and more;
- The oldest book in the collection, a 1498 copy of Marsiglio Ficino’s De Triplici Vita;
- Rare editions of early to mid-20th century science fiction;
- The Henry Mancini-Cecil Welch Music Collection; and
- Records from Georgia Tech student organizations.
