What does my registration hold mean?
Georgia Tech students must meet various Institute requirements before they can register for classes. Holds may prevent newly admitted graduate students from registering for their first semester and returning graduate students from registering for subsequent semesters.

First Semester Registration Hold
- Lawful Presence Hold – this hold will appear in OSCAR as Admissions Lawful Presence and is applied by the Office of Graduate Education for applicants who reside in the United States and have not satisfied the lawful presence requirement.
- Financial Responsibility Hold – this hold will appear in OSCAR as Financial Resp. Agreement and is applied by the Bursar's Office to ensure that students understand their financial obligations to the University System of Georgia upon registering for classes.
- Office of International Education Hold – this hold will appear in OSCAR as OIE Check-In Hold applied by the Office of International Education when state and federal requirements for F-1 and J-1 student visa holders attending Georgia Tech are not met.
Second Semester Registration Hold
- Academic Documents Hold – this hold will appear in OSCAR as GR Adm-Records Missing and is applied by Office of Graduate Education for any missing academic documents. Your portal’s application checklist will list the missing documents.
- Sexual Assault Prevention Hold – this hold will appear in OSCAR as Healthiniatives-AssaultPrevUG and is applied by the Wellness Empowerment Center if an Atlanta campus student has not completed this required training.
- Health and Immunization Hold – this hold will appear in OSCAR as Infirmary/Immunizatn and is applied by Stamps Health Services if an Atlanta campus student has not completed their immunization requirements.
