Title:  Novel Hybrid Methods and Analysis Techniques for Non-timed Antenna Arrays and Reflectarrays

Abstract: The objective of the proposed research is present novel hybrid methods and analysis techniques to efficiently compute antenna figures of merit (e.g. Antenna Patterns and Antenna-Limited Symbol Rate (ALSR)), namely: 1) A hybrid method is introduced that allows for the efficient computation of antenna patterns for planar periodic antennas; 2) an analysis technique is introduced for the computation of signal-level performance degradation of planar non-timed array antennas at high symbol rates; and 3) An applied Floquet similarity transformation to accurately model a unit-cell’s circular polarization response. Proof of concepts and preliminary research has been done on all three topics in the form of published or accepted IEEE conference papers. Various aspects of all of the aforementioned tasks remain to be completed in order to put each topic to a journal paper publication level of quality; namely: 1) to explicit show the novel benefits of the hybrid far field solver method over existing methods; 2) to add more fidelity, details, and complexity to the time-delay quantification method; and 3) add higher-order modes and angles of incidence to the applied Floquet similarity transformation.
