When it comes to making a smooth transition to becoming a student at Georgia Tech, there are a few events and programs that you'll want to take full advantage of. Read on for the details you need to know about each.
In addition to the orientation that your individual program might hold (which you'll want to be sure to attend), the Office of Graduate Studies hosts several new student welcome orientation sessions at various times of the year to introduce you to Georgia Tech-wide resources and policies.
Fall 2018 Institute Graduate Orientation was held from August 9 - 21. We have compiled a collection of important files including the slide deck from the orientation session accessible via the link below. Details for the Spring 2019 orientation session will be made available later this fall.
We also invite you to view a collection of videos to help you familiarize yourself with the Institute and all it has to offer:
- Q&A with Provost Rafael L. Bras about graduate student life at Tech
- Overview of requirements for graduate students
- Office of the Registrar
- Office of the Bursar
- Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
- Campus Services
- Georgia Tech Police Department
- Stamps Health Services
- Counseling Center
- Center for Career Discovery and Development (C2D2)
Every August, the Office of Graduate Studies hosts the GradExpo resource fair to help new graduate students learn about campus services, student organizations, and local businesses in the surrounding community. Details for the fall 2019 GradExpo event will be available spring 2019.
The Office of Graduate Studies also coordinates an extended orientation program called Grad Groups. If you are a new graduate student looking to meet diverse graduate students from across campus, learn from an older graduate student about what it takes to be successful at Tech, and get exposure to campus departments who are here to serve your needs, Grad Groups is the place for you. Be sure to fill out the interest form on the Grad Groups webpage to be informed about how to register.
